A 61-year-old Brazilian man is gaining thousands of fans on social media for his videos where he appears doing weightlifting workouts with his vehicles.

Carlos Suassuna, better known online as Vovô Maromba, has over 1 million followers on Instagram, where he shows off his impressive physique and uses humor to talk about the importance of exercising.

In a conversation with UOL, he explained that he has been working since he was a child and yet never gave up training. “I used to wake up at 4:30 a.m. and go train. By 7 a.m., I had to be back to work with my father on the farm,” Carlos said.

However, since he is from a rural area in northeastern Brazil, there were no gyms where he lived. That’s why he had to improvise. “Even today, I like training with stone weights. People used to call me crazy, nuts.”

Until one day, he decided to use his black Fiat Siena for a very heavy workout. His videos quickly went viral, and he has been making a living from the internet for four years now, with various sponsorships ranging from pizzerias to fitness supplement brands.

“I didn’t think I would become so successful, because I made those videos and posted them just for fun, to amuse myself. But […] the success was so great that soon I started receiving messages from people inviting me to events. I never expected that, not at all,” he told gshow.
